PRESIDENT ANNIVERSARY SPEECH
BY PRESIDENT GENERAL OF ASWAON (W)
My fellow Nigerians and beautiful Aswaon(w) Women present and away. I stand on their behalf to say Welcome to these great occasion of ASWAON (W) 14 years anniversary honoring new patrons, grand patron, mothers of the association and launching of our HQ.
Let me congratulate Aswaon(w) for turning and making their 14years in existence today and congratulations to all of us on our personal decision to join Aswaon(w) Nigeria and abroad a wonderful family.
I want to tell you that have visibly opted to join the selected people to manifest an uncommon class of citizens. I can report to Nigerians despite where we find ourselves that we have achieved a victory to some extent (through mentoring/teaching in schools on LOVE, PEACE AND UNITY OF NIGERIANS) for safer Nigeria for our democratic value and for a stronger Nigeria.
I want you to know and feel it that our nation Nigeria is a great country and the largest nation of great people in the world. We are blessed superlative with natural and human resources above many nations of the world. Also I want to express my profound gratitude to our women that day after day, night after night, they seek to find out where thay can help our members from other regions in the north that are affected with terrorist attackers to harbor them in their house, pending when the government will ask them to return to their base. I ask every Nigerian to join me to say THANK YOU, you have made us proud as Aswaon(w) women.
For these 14 years, we have been contributing to the national development in our own way, we never cease going to schools and states teaching/mentoring them on love peace and unity of Nigerians-offering health screening programs to Nigerians without help from Nigerian Government or individuals.
We have been inaugurating states too and its LGAs. Visiting motherless babies home like Tunji Adebayo motherless in Iju Lagos. Empowering our women through international networking to see that those that doesn’t have job will be engaged with something to hold on to, and we give out N55,500 (Fifty Five thousand five hundred naira) worth of products per person from Green World Wealth Solution Company.
Presently, we have given more than 98 members out of over 5000 women that indicated interest to know that the weight and size of Aswaon(w) is much that without our patrons, grand patrons, fathers and mothers, we wouldn’t move as expected, and as the president general of the association, I am determined to offer leadership through getting our parents involved – to overcome our current challenges in all.
WHAT WE EXPECT GOVERNMENT TO DO
We expect government at all levels to vigorously pursue programs that touches women affairs exclusively i.e mentoring men on abstinence from women abuse and domestic violence in total – to ensure that every state have it as a state law. We also urge government to indulge in scholarship, bursary awards to both male and female students, and ensuring education is free. Also, adult literacy program should also be pursued to raise the level of education of the citizens.
There’s an adage that says “when you educate a woman, you educated a nation”. Maternal health care for all women is a right to demand from our government. Kudos to Bayelsa State Governor, Rivers, Akwa Ibom, Anambra, Lagos, Delta and Adamawa state for their massive support in that area, and we ask that others should borrow a leaf from them.
Women should also be considered not only for government appointments, but for contracts too.
Hence, we draw the attention of governments to insecurity of lives and properties. Women and our children are the most affected. Herdsmen activities must stop. We don’t know how government will do it, but we want it to stop.
Also, government should reduce the salary scale of NASS or erase National House of Representatives – let us only maintain the senate, as Local governments can do what House of reps does. That will help to develop rural areas in Nigerian states.
WHAT WE EXPECT STATES ASWAON(W) TO DO IN A GOOD ATMOSHERE
- To gather and mobilize women to advance the course of family and nation building
- To mentor in schools on love, peace, unity and proper service to Nigeria
- To gather on the basis of non-tribal and non-religious inclination.
- To inculate good value system on their children beginning from the home upbringing.
- To support our husbands and youths among us.
- To support governments of any state and federal
- To organize seminars for the orientation and empowerment of our women folks and children.
Note that, we exist to meet the needs that are lacking in the areas of genuine love, peace, unity dedicated voluntary service and respect for human rights and care for the needy, elderly and inculcation and sustenance of enviable moral standards.
My fellow Nigerians, I want to tell you that Aswaon(w) is the first NGO in the history of Nigeria where new generation of women emerged with a clear vision and distinctive focus without having recourse to what other women have done. ASWAON(W) simply came out for absolute rebuilding reorientation of Nigeria youths, children and men. Our basic value is in respect of lifting that no foreigner will be allowed to condemn Nigeria before a Nigerian youth. Government should help no to limit the down trodden. Every Nigerian should be of average. No poverty at all.
We are bringing new patrons, grand patrons and mothers into the fold of Aswaon(w). Also, we are using this 14 years anniversary to launch the permanent site project.
The ASWAON(W) HQ which we will launch today will help the association to properly be identified. We agreed to have two HQ bearing in mind the vast nature of our country and our membership base. So we made choice by picking ballot and Enugu and Adamawa emerged. The HQ will help the association to save cost in programs, also, the HQ building will have age peoples home, halls to make the place lively. There will be free bursary school in the building for Nigerians not only members of Aswaon(w)
In general, we want the youths to stand to their challenges in Nigeria and believe in what they can do for their nation as John f Kennedy made in his speech and on that we asked our youths to hold their heads high, because we can win by our ideas. We much not lose anyone of you through herdsmen participation and attack Boko Haram style of recruitments, drug addicts, abortions cultism, suicide bombing, kidnapping violence among ourselves inform of Alaye, Agboro, Almajiri, etc. we are ready to turn you guys around as good sons and daughters of our great nation, and wherever you are, I challenge you to hope and to dream love, peace and unity to your nation. Do not stop with the way things are. Stand against it completely.
In conclusion, we all know that we have endured a long night suffering with Nigeria spirit, and I quote Ronald Reagan that the future does not belong to the faint hearted. It belong to brave, so be brave to achieve it. I speak to the youth of Nigeria.
Thank you all.
Dr. Barr. Temple Nnedum
